6 Days 'Til Christmas

OK, haven't blogged in 2 weeks, but this is my insane time of year at work, so all I want to do is relax when I have the chance, although, luckily, the insanity should be done with in another couple of weeks, after New Year's is over.

Good news:
  • Lost 5lbs
  • BMI is down .04 (I know it doesn't seem like much, but it is a start)
  • Got a workout in this weekend, admittedly, it was playing with my nieces at a birthday party, but, WOW, who knew those bounce houses, especially the slide ones, were such a great workout?

Not so good news:

  • I haven't been eating enough fruits and veggies, I actually sent a large part of my last co-op pick-up home with my mother
  • I'm still not getting enough sleep, although that is largely in part to calling Nhan before I go to sleep, then talking to him for an hour or so. I enjoy the calls and don't plan on giving them up, so I'm just going to have to call earlier
  • Haven't made it to the gym in weeks

Steps to take:

  • More fruit and veggies
  • Get to bed earlier, so that I can get up and go to the gym
  • Workout at least 3 days a week - Preferably ones that include cardio and weight trainings, but even a simple evening walk would do, to start

Back on Track

I started this blog with the intention of being good, and eating more healthy food and less junk. Maybe I started it a few days too early.

I haven't been too good with either food or exercise over the last few days, with lots of stress on Monday, followed by my birthday on Tuesday, and a birthday lunch on Wednesday. I've been getting enough sleep at night, I think, but I'm still waking up sort of drained, and definately unable to wake up early enough to go to the gym before work, which is when I prefer to go. I've been achy and tired all week, so either Nhan is right and I'm getting old, or I'm coming down with something. (I haven't been extremely bad with my diet, just not really good, when I'm stressed or feeling bad, all I really want is something sweet and full of carbs)

But, today is looking up, food-wise, if not the exercise. I started with a healthy breakfast of an Odwalla Nourishing Food Bar and a banana, followed by a mid-morning cup of Earl Grey tea with a bit of 1% milk and 1 packet of Splenda to sweeten it. I brought lunch, a bowl of my yummy homemade black bean soup and an orange (had a small piece of milk chocolate with the orange, as dessert), the soup is fully of good for me vegetables. I even brought an afternoon snack, a granny smith apple with some organic peanut butter, yum! For dinner I had some homemade tomato basil soup with a couple of rolls to dip in it, and the last serving of sweet potato souffle.

I'm thinking maybe I should talk to Nhan in the mornings before work, since he makes me so happy, I can just relax when I talk to him, and it would make for a less stressful day.
