2lb a week-Reward $$$ account 2007 1/9/07

OK, again, it's been a while since I posted, but that's because I totally went off my diet for about 3 months. In that time I was out of town 3 times, got 3 colds, 2 major food holidays and my birthday. All of that resulted in a 13lb weight gain. Luckily, I kept off about 8 lbs.

I have weigh in in 2 days, so I'll see how much of that 13lbs I got rid of in the last week.

But, hopefully, I'll be able to use the challenge below and the encouragement of the other people on the community boards on www.weightwatchers.com

This is one of the community challenges from those boards, to be posted on daily, with a goal of losing 2lbs per week. What I hope to do is actually save the money for a new wardrobe, for the new, slimmer me!

I also plan on posting my results here daily :D

Week 25

Well, today was week 25 on Weight Watchers, not including the occassional week taken off or the month and a half I took off after my grandfather's death.

But, the results are... 21.2 lbs GONE!!!!

I can't believe it, I was hovering so close to 20 for so long, I almost thought I'd never make it. Now my next mini-goal is to hit the 25 lb mark by the weekend before Halloween. After all, I want to look better in my costume ;) But, long-term is still another 40-55 lbs, hopefully before next summer.

A day like today's weigh-in really encourages me to stay on track, I lost 3.4 lbs in the last week and I made my first major goal. I'm contributing it to all the water I've been drinking and all the fruits and veggies I've been eating. I learned a lot of ways to add the veggies in on a regular basis.

It's been a long time since I've made a journal entry, last time Blogger just wasn't working.

But, to update, at today's weigh-in, I lost another 1.8lbs. So after 16 weeks at Weight Watchers, I am down 17.4lbs. My next goal is my 20% mark, which is 20lbs.

I'm still not working out like I should be, most of my exercise seems to be coming from shopping. But, I have got to start working out. It is the only ways that I can boost my weight loss.

But, the good news is, that I am down 1 size, which really opens up my closet. Unfortunately, some of my favorite clothes are now too big on me. What a shame ;)

My next big goal I'm heading for, besides the 20% mark, is to have lost 25lbs by the time I go to LA, in 4 week's time. Which means, I have to get on the ball, both literally and figuratively. I have 7.6lbs to go to make that. Now, the question is... How?

OK, I've set up a reminder in my Palm to remind me to go for a walk every evening, for about 30 minutes, followed by a workout at home. Although, if I can get up early enough, I would also like to go to the gym before work. Of course, that depends on getting up between 5:30am and 6am, and as late as I stay up talking to my friends in Cali every night, the odds of getting up that early are pretty low.

I put some pics of Aman on my Palm, and he's in such great shape that I will try and use him for inspiration to workout. That and the quote "Nothing tastes better than being thin feels."

Slight Success

Well, I didn't get around to posting when I weighed-in last week, but the result was that I lost .8 lbs. Yes, that is right, 8/10ths of a pound. I'm attributing it to using too many of my weekly points the night before weigh-in, so from now on, splurging is only on the weekend.

So, during the week I'm being good, food-wise, although that doesn't mean starving or boring food. Last night's dinner was 2 servings of a Veggie Stir Fry and a Cherry-Glazed Chocolate Cupcake, both WW recipes, to the tune of 5.5 points. (The veggie stir fry was so good that Craig even had some).

I've started using a pedometer to see how many steps I'm taking during the day, and yesterday was the first day since i started using it that I remembered to wear it, and didn't accidentally reset it at some point. Yesterday's step count was 5,011, so today's goal is 6,000. I'm aiming for 10,000 - 15,000 per day.

This week's weight loss goal is 2lbs, which would make my total -6.2lbs, which would accomplish step #1, the 5lb weight loss. Step 2 is 10%, so I have still have a little while before that happens, but as someone told me once, and I keep in mind, "Think of what a pound of butter weighs, and imagine how many of those you've actually lost."

Tried something new

Well, it's been forever since I posted, but that is because I hadn't made any progress. The total opposite happened, actually. With all of the stress of the last few months, I actually put on about 14 lbs, so last week I made the decision to start Weight Watchers, including attending meetings and counting points. A few of the girls here in the office were already doing it, so I decided to join them, after all, if we all do it together, that is just more incentive.

  • My first weigh-in: 203.2 lbs (2/23/06)
  • But, now for the good news, after my first week of all of this, I've lost 3.4 lbs
  • Week 1 weigh-in: 199.8

I admit, I'm totally embarrassed that I weighed over 200 lbs, hell I'm barely beneath that now, but this last week's progress just makes me want to keep going. I signed up, and paid for, 10 weeks of meetings, so I will be going at least that long, but if things keep progressing as they are, I will probably sign up for another 10 weeks after that. Two of my favorite things about the program is that you can eat anything, just be careful of the portions, and the other is that I can sync my Palm with the website, so I'm carrying my tracker and point counts wherever I go, since I never go anywhere without my Palm.

I have to admit, I'm already worrying about vacation in 3 weeks, I don't want to go off the plan, but how an you go to San Francisco and not eat? I think I will look up a local WW meeting while I'm there so I don't miss a week, and hopefully that will help me not totally pig out while there.

The next step is obvious, and I've said it before, but what I really need to do is start working out again. Now if only I can get myself out of bed in the morning and make it to the gym, since I'm usually too tired in the evening to try and go out and workout, and I definately can't do it at home right now, too many people all over the house (remember I mentioned stress? I've got 7 people in my house right now and it's driving me nuts, and I don't know how long they will all be there, not to mention no one else seems to want to eat healthy, lighter food). I did get a new pedometer today, hopefully this one will actually work, so that I can start working on those 10,000-15,000 steps you're supposed to take daily, which will be a definate challenge since my job's pretty sedentary. Will definately have to add in some evening walks (luckily the weather is gorgeous right now, so it should be a pleasure).

P.S. I totally forgot to mention what my little treat (nothing food related) that I will give myself for every 5 lbs I lose. A $10 Nordstrom gift card! So, by the time I reach my goal of 135 lbs, I should have almost enough money to get that little black Coach purse I've been drooling over, maybe enough all of it if the purse goes on sale

6 Days 'Til Christmas

OK, haven't blogged in 2 weeks, but this is my insane time of year at work, so all I want to do is relax when I have the chance, although, luckily, the insanity should be done with in another couple of weeks, after New Year's is over.

Good news:
  • Lost 5lbs
  • BMI is down .04 (I know it doesn't seem like much, but it is a start)
  • Got a workout in this weekend, admittedly, it was playing with my nieces at a birthday party, but, WOW, who knew those bounce houses, especially the slide ones, were such a great workout?

Not so good news:

  • I haven't been eating enough fruits and veggies, I actually sent a large part of my last co-op pick-up home with my mother
  • I'm still not getting enough sleep, although that is largely in part to calling Nhan before I go to sleep, then talking to him for an hour or so. I enjoy the calls and don't plan on giving them up, so I'm just going to have to call earlier
  • Haven't made it to the gym in weeks

Steps to take:

  • More fruit and veggies
  • Get to bed earlier, so that I can get up and go to the gym
  • Workout at least 3 days a week - Preferably ones that include cardio and weight trainings, but even a simple evening walk would do, to start
